What are you most passionate about?
I am very passionate about social justice. I also LOVE DOGS!!!
Do you have a hobby?
Gardening, hiking, and reading are my three favorite hobbies, but I am always open to more!
When you were little, what was your dream job?
I wanted to be a writer. Still do, actually.
What was the best part of your week/weekend?
Getting this job offer!
If your life was a song, what would the title be?
Let It Be
Are you involved in any community projects or organizations?
Not currently. We were recently caring for my 90 year old father, who passed away in December. I am just now getting used to having a like with no teenagers or aging parents to consider, and haven’t settled on what to do next!
What is the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?
Squid. I did not like it!
What’s your favorite TV Show?
I like Survivor, British comedy panel shows, Grace and Frankie, and anything Star Trek!
What is your favorite thing to spend money on?
Thrift store shopping. Or food.
What’s the most interesting thing you’ve learned recently?
The national animal of Scotland is the Unicorn. (Love those British panel shows!)

I am most passionate about being self-sufficient and teaching my kids how to be self-sufficient also.

My favorite hobby is singing karaoke, I also like to do nails

When I was little my dream job was to be a teacher

Meet Risha Bigelow, the new Library Associate at the Graham Public Library

We are pleased to announce that long time library employee, Risha Bigelow, has been promoted to the position of Library Associate at the Graham Public Library. Many will recognize her as one of the friendly faces previously at the North Park Library and the May Memorial Reference Department and we are excited to see in her new role.

Burlington, NC.
What are you most passionate about?
Family.
Do you have a hobby?
Reading.
When you were little, what was your dream job?
Writer.
What was the best part of your week/weekend?
Anytime spent reading.
If your life was a song, what would the title be?
Ha Ha Ha . . .
Are you involved in any community projects or organizations?
I am a member of the sub-group for StoryWalk of Alamance County.
What is the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?
I do not eat weird food.
What’s your favorite TV Show?
Criminal Minds is my favorite, but I will watch any crime solving television show.
What is your favorite thing to spend money on?
Cute shoes.
What’s the most interesting thing you’ve learned recently?
During my two years in reference services at the May Memorial Library, I occasionally worked at the circulation desk. After three days at the Graham Public Library, I may have forgotten more than I remember when it comes to working the circulation desk.

I have worked IN Alamance Co. for 34 years as a teacher and librarian for ABSS and then as a librarian for The Burlington School.

I am originally from the Chicago area.
What are you most passionate about?
My family, reading/education, cats/dogs

Reading, taking day trips with my husband, learning new things

I wanted to be a teacher

Any time I can spend with my two grown daughters

I foster kittens for the Burlington Animal Shelter

Susana Goldman Hired as Director for Alamance Libraries

At the Board of Commissioners’ Meeting held on May 6, 2019, County Manager Bryan Hagood announced Susana Goldman as Director for Alamance County Libraries.
Susana Goldman has been with Alamance Libraries since February of 2014 when she was hired as May Memorial Branch Manager. In 2016, Goldman was promoted to Associate Director of Operations where she became responsible for all library branches and staff. Since December, Susana has also served as Interim Director while continuing her responsibilities as Associate Director of Operations. She holds a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Alabama and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Journalism from the University of Iowa.
Assistant County Manager Bruce Walker expressed his appreciation for all her work throughout these last few months. “Since December, Susana has more than embraced her role as interim director by providing direction and support to our library employees. We are very excited that she has agreed to continue working as director and look forward to supporting her leadership as she leads our libraries.”
“It is an honor to step into the role of library director, and I am excited to work closely with our Friends of the Library Board, Library Committee, staff, and our residents in order to continue offering relevant and engaging library services and programs within our community,” said Goldman.
